The fact that my state legislatures can so easily lie and manipulate facts to the public in order to lock individuals up for the rest of their lives, when in fact these people have finished the prison sentences for the crimes they have committed is very disturbing to me.
The state is allowing the psychiatric industry to use inflated statistics to dupe the public into believing that certain individuals need to be "civilly committed", because they are are "likely" to reoffend. The irony of the situation is that the ones applying the inflated statistics are the ones who are being allowed to profit from this new age form of servitude. The recividism rate for a sex offender committing another sex crime is only 5.3%, yet the state has over 300 individuals committed in this program. Over 60% of these have been sent back to prison over rule violations. It is interesting to note here, that these rules are not felonies passed as laws through legislation, yet they are being used as laws for this lower class of citizen.
This program is said to be outpatient, yet these individuals are clearly incarcerated. This is being done to allow the state to avoid certain obligations that comes along with incarcerating a person. These people are kept from contacting loved ones. It's said that only approved contact is allowed, yet this approval takes months and even years, when it is done at all. At least one, in this state sponsored new age caste system, has been sent back to prison for calling his own mother!
